Students Policy

As a student of GAMS International School, you are expected to recognize the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all. You must understand that your behaviour and actions directly impact the well-being of your fellow students, teachers, staff, and the overall integrity of the school. This code of conduct serves as a guiding principle, outlining the expectations and responsibilities of students of GAMS International School. It reflects our commitment to fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere that promotes learning, personal growth, and mutual respect.

Section 1: ATTENDANCE
1

Students must attend school regularly and punctually.

Students are only permitted to absent themselves from school or school events on health grounds (i.e. sick or going for a medical check-up) or during an emergency.

Absence on medical grounds or due to an emergency must be requested or reported to the school by the parent.

Holidays, midterm breaks, and vacations shall be communicated to students and their parents on a timely basis.

School begins at 7:00 am and closes at 3:00 pm. Students are to report to school no later than 7:30 am and leave by 3:30 pm.

Attending school assembly and other events is compulsory for all students.

Students can only request an exeat on medical grounds or in an emergency. A written request for the exeat must be from a parent, guardian, or member of staff and must be approved by the Director/Headteacher.

DRESSCODE: Students must always come to school in the prescribed school uniform for specific days.

HAIR: Students must always put on a decent haircut (boys) or braids (girls) with no beads or hair dye.

Students must always put on black shoes with white socks and wear sneakers on Wednesdays for PE.

At all times during the day, students are expected to appear neat and decently dressed.

Section 2: ACADEMIC CONDUCT

Students must attend all lessons punctually and regularly unless they are absent from school or receiving treatment at the school’s infirmary.

Students must always complete class exercises, assignments, and projects, and submit them for marking. Failure to do so would result in a loss of marks, which would adversely affect their cumulative assessment score.

Examinations are compulsory for all students, unless on medical or emergency grounds. Students refusing to write examinations or feigning illness in order to avoid tests will be deemed as having failed the tests.

Students must not seek special favours from teachers or invigilators in relation to their academic work, i.e. to leak examination questions, receive unmerited marks, etc.

Students must not cheat in examinations. Students are expected to be honest with their academic work, i.e. classwork, projects, and assignments.

Students must regularly check the school's notice board or website for important updates.

Section 3: COURTESY

Students are expected to show respect to their parents, staff, colleagues, and all members of the school community.

Students are expected to treat each other with kindness and a sense of decorum and good judgment.

Students are not allowed to insult, tease, shout at, defame, or harass any staff, colleague, or members of the school community.

FIGHTING & BULLYING: Fighting and bullying are not tolerated in and around the school.

Any student who engages in a fight or bullying shall be reprimanded appropriately.

USAGE OF TECHNOLOGY: Students are not allowed to use cell phones in the school. Any student who wants to call his/her parents can do that through the school's office.

Laptops, tablets, and other electronic gadgets are only allowed for academic purposes.

Section 4: SECURITY & SAFETY

Stealing is not allowed in the school.

Students must always seek permission before taking or using items or things that do not belong to them.

Students are not allowed to draw, scribble, or paste things on the school's walls, tables, and other properties.

Students are expected to protect the school's properties and handle them with care. Students are not supposed to drag their chairs or tables.

Scaling walls, staircases, and tables, and breaking into washrooms and other rooms are not permitted.

Students are not allowed to dispose of any school property without permission.

If a student is caught willfully damaging any school property, such as broken locks, louvers, etc., the school will not hesitate to bill such a student for the damages.

Students must report all damage or maintenance issues promptly to a member of staff.

Any misplaced items found lying around should be sent to a teacher, the administrator, or the school secretary.
